Beginner Model Drawing
Interested in our sketch nights? Not sure about your skills? Come take this intro class and learn about materials and basic techniques to get started with a live costumed model. These workshops lead into our regular sketch nights where you can practice what you’ve learned. Instructor Scott Schultheis is a Philadelphia based artist specializing in drawing and painting. He holds an MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and teaches art across the region, in schools, museums, and community centers. Recommended materials: soft drawing pencils, vine charcoal, kneaded erasers, and an 11×14 drawing book. Ages 16 and up, $40 per class, April 10 & May 7, 6:30-9pm, at Buzz Ware Village Center.

Pysanky Egg Decorating
Susan Benarcik teaches how to create stunning decorated holiday eggs with this traditional Ukrainian craft of layering wax and dyes on raw eggs. Materials, traditional designs, and everything you need to get going is provided, April 13, noon-3pm, $40, at Buzz Ware Village Center. Ages 16 and up.

Intro to Nature Drawing
Linda Celestian will lead this 3-hour workshop of fun easy drawing techniques. Nature will be the subject and you will be amazed at the beautiful drawings you’ll walk away with. First learn how to really see your subject with blind contour and contour drawing exercises. Next learn to see and use negative shapes to make interesting compositions and finally explore some fun materials to bring it all together. All supplies included, $40. May 4, noon-3pm, at Buzz Ware Village Center. Teens welcome.

Smartphone Video Shorts
That iPhone you have in your pocket takes great video! But what to do with all that random vacation footage? Before heading out for Summer fun, learn tips and techniques to shoot and produce an engaging, edited, 2 minute video. We will practice shooting short, engaging video clips, with good audio, and assembling a polished video story. With Alan Baseden, $40, May 18, noon-3pm, at Buzz Ware Village Center. Garden Chair Workshop
In less than three hours with only a cordless drill/driver, you will construct your own Garden Chair. No prior experience with either woodworking, power tools or carpentry is necessary. A fun and industrious session is guaranteed to produce a finished piece to take home. Workshop is led by Dan Benarcik, Horticulturist at Chanticleer Garden. Everything is provided with the exception of a charged cordless drill (required). June 9, 9am-noon, $175, at Buzz Ware Village Center. 18 and over.


Plein Air Painting in Gouache
A two-day workshop in painting outdoors with gouache (opaque watercolor), a fun and forgiving medium that allows for easier corrections than transparent watercolor. Techniques will include choosing a landscape composition, gouache paint handling, mixing a wide range of colors from a simplified palette, and creating textures for trees, grasses and other landscape elements. Gouache paint will be provided for the workshop; a list will be provided of other suggested materials for students to bring. Location: Battery Park, New Castle, DE. Instructor: Charley Parker; $40 per session; Saturdays, May 25 and June 1, 2019; 9:00 am – 12:00 noon; Rain Date June 8. Open to beginners and experienced painters, 18 and over.
